Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is dealing with the biggest political defeat of his term this morning. The Sacramento City Council voted against his request to direct the city attorney to draft a ballot measure for his strong-mayor proposal with a 7-2 vote.  Councilman Rob Fong says the mayor has not shown the current system is not working.

Oregon: Road naming could be on ballot

Opponents of renaming Beltline Road as the Randy Papé Beltline want to take their opposition to a statewide vote in November. The first two signs for the Randy Papé Beltline were made Wednesday in Salem. Kevin Prociw and Scott Reynolds, who organized protests to the name change, want to put the issue on the ballot in November.
