A coalition of San Diego’s construction contractors have joined forces with Councilman Carl DeMaio to get an measure on next year’s ballot that would make managed competition more viable for the city, reported KPBS.   The measure, “Competition and Transparency in City Contracting,” would allow contractors to bid against city workers, and bid for work without union-dictated benefits. Supporters of the measure need to collect 96,000 signatures by next June.
